Why I chose Wise Hippo vs NHS word by Ellie Lewis
Why I chose Wise Hippo vs NHS
When looking at options for hypno-birthing classes I was ultimately looking for a course that not only covered preparing for birth and techniques for having a calm birth but also preparing for growing our family and the changes this may bring. My first birth was straightforward and a positive experience. I wanted to ensure that, despite some complications in my second pregnancy, I would have a second positive birth experience and cope better with some of the challenges that I faced.
After experiencing some PND with my first born I felt it was really important to explore how both myself and my partner were feeling about our new arrival and what it meant for us as a family. I was also keen to ensure my daughter (5yo) was involved in our preparations.
Having contacted Bex at Mama’s Instinct regarding her course she explained to me about the new blueprint package from pregnancy, through birth and beyond. I felt this was a great way to achieve my aims. I also felt that the ability to have one to one sessions and build a good relationship with Bex along the way was a huge positive, she became a great source of advice and support at various stages before, during and after birth and gave so much more than the contents of the course itself. The online support groups and content available were also a huge bonus. This level of additional support and resources is something I wouldn’t have gained from a group NHS course.
During our one to one classes, I was able to discuss and tackle some anxieties over bonding and feeding that I would likely not have discussed in a group setting. Equally, the opportunity to meet other couples at some of the classes we did as a group was also beneficial to see how others were using techniques for their own journey.
The wise hippo motto for having the “right birth on the day” allows the flexibility in mindset required for the unexpected that childbirth often brings whilst giving parents-to-be the confidence and tools to ensure a positive birth experience that is right for them.
